    Default Material

You may be right; however, the point I was making is a little weight, no matter how miniscule, makes a big difference when being carted around all day. Another suggestion though: tube from a bicycle frame would be a good start (most are chrome molly I think), it's cheap as from the local tip, it's sized to take a bicycle seat post, it's very strong and as most have around 1.3 -1.5 mm walls it's easy to weld with arc, mig oxy, tig, whatever.

I would think weight savings in the foot would be more meaningful than in the upper parts.

As I've left my run a little late, I am going to have to use what I can get quickly, I think.
A local steel supply has offered to fabricate ( assume braze together )the frame for me today, so will see what happens.

I bought the handlebar and both stems today so I'm on the way.

    Thanks for all the comments.
I'll post a pic of the finished device, if it works...lol

I have finally got the frame built.
It look awhile to find a supplier for the right size material (I needed 1.40 mm wall thickness ) and for it to arrive.
I bent it up on the conduit bender at work ( yes, I bent one of them a little too far....) , cut the copes on Saturday and got it welded up today at a local steel supplier.
It just needs to be assembled after the paint dries tomorrow. I hope it works....lol

    Default All done.....

Just thought I'd post a conclusion to this quest.....

I've assembled the leg sim today and had a test run. It seems to work very well and is very easy to use. ( I haven't fallen yet...)
I'm quite prepared to have to 'tune' it but it does not appear to be far out.
I weights 3.8 kg which is not too bad. I didn't try very hard to keep the weight down.
Might see if I can source a foot with some 'give' in the toe area...Might improve the transition a bit.

Congratulations Steve on the great execution. Kudos to you for getting the design down and following through having it fabricated to your spec. Nice job!
