So JJ at SINO offered $10 USD refund or have them ship out a swing arm. A $10 refund made that decision REAL easy. SEND THE SWING ARM PLEASE! JJ then asked me to plug in all the readouts and check all the slides, which I had thought of, and was good that he did too. That way if anything else is wrong he could ship out a replacement at the same time. I realize shipping from China to California is horrendous but $10 in California will get you a Big Mac meal at McDonalds, not a swing arm or even half the material needed to make it.
Oh and thank you all very much for the info. Once my HW checks out I will notify JJ and make a temporary mount on the headstock for the DRO in the meantime. That way I can get going on installing everything as I'm eager to save time through the utilization of technology. I will plan on lots of pictures and I'm sure I will come back with some questions. Thanks again and enjoy your weekends!

I would have taken the arm as well, surely it would cost his around the $40-$50 to purchase it and send it express post, but only offered you $10?
Look forward to your updates, but I would start a new thread with a link to this one.
I have a few links I could send you of people installing DRO's if you want them, but most can be seen by just typing in Lathe DRO into Google images.

Along the same lines, it the difference between the Sino and Sinpo? Is one a copy of the other or can someone not spell very well....
CJ can i ask which seller you got yours from? there seems to be a few, and if you have had an easy time dealing with them i'd rather use them.

He posted the link on the 1st page to the seller xaio1207 who sell a few brands of DRO including Sino, Sinpo, Easson.

The Sinpo came out only a year or so ago, but Sino had been going for for years. Myself I would prefure the Sino SDS6-3v which is a multi machine readout. They are a good readout and have a diecast case.

Ha! I was just browsing H&F's site looking at the mills (after reading woodfasts thread) and noticed that the BM30 mill and larger have the chfoic DRO's, which are what you get with the sinpo systems....i guess H&F couldn't get the Eassons cheap enough.
Dave, is the somewhere your getting info on the sino units from, there is not much on the ebay listing and a google came up with nothing.

I have had the Sino SDS6-3V on my mill for the past few years, before that I had a Meister on it.

Hey Ueee it looks like Dave answered your question, thanks Dave. I haven't come up for air yet, been practically living at work lately. JJ at Sino has been following up with me to test the scales and DRO but I just haven't had any time at all. So far SINO, even with their mistake, has been very responsive and forthcoming. As long as the hardware checks out OK I would say their customer service is tops, the price is great and the shipping and packaging could have been a little bit better by bagging my slim scale and by including my swing arm.
