It worked for Joe didn't it?
As Joe had spectacular success finding a shaper after alerting the forum that he wanted one, I can but try the same thing.
I'm looking for a small T&C grinder. It must be small because the shed is almost full. By small I mean something that is bench top mounted with a foot print of around 500mm square. An example of maximum size would be the Power grinder I commented on in the ebay thread. I started making a Stent, but that's a bit too small (and not as solid as I'd like).
As well as sharpening lathe and milling cutters I'd also like to be able to use it to do the occasional bit of surface and cylindrical grinding (nothing big) , so Deckel D bit grinders won't do. The closest thing I've seen out there are the T&C grinders made some years ago by CC (Sydney based I think). Recently there was a Japanese Aurora on ebay that would have been suitable except that it would not do the surface stuff.
I would like to get the T&C tooling with it. Condition is not so important as I can refurb/ repair (and we all know that scraping is not hard to do, right?). I have a small magnetic chuck, so lack of that is not a problem.
So if anyone sees something in their travels, please let me know.

By sheer fluke I managed to find a T&C grinder on gumtree - I don't normally go there but just happened along one day and found something local.
It's nothing special - a 1991 Hafco BM 450 from Hare and Forbes, but it is mine. It came out of an Industrial Design workshop, where they used to use it for grinding special cutters. They now have a CNC machine so it was just sitting there. Their estimate is about 100 hours work, so not much work at all. I also got 8 or so extra grinding wheels (cup and saucer)

I won't be able to put it back together until I get a space cleared for it. I think I may have to strip it and check it as some of the ways feel a bit stiff. The main slide is a dovetail. Anyone got any ideas on how I could get that a little more freely moving? After seeing the kits that I posted the other day, I'm even wondering about some needle rollers in a carrier of some kind. The sensible option is probably to scrape it but I think I have a delusional condition that makes me think it is possible to turn a sow's ear into a silk purse.

One thing I will have to do is get rid of the Stent castings I have - I've done the large machining (only one "damn!" moment) including the dove tails but never got around to doing much more. I think I've found a home for them though

Because it was a low mileage one owner vehicle, all the original accessories came with it, so I should not have any excuses for un-sharpened cutters (except that it's in pieces and I need to get a VFD and I don't think I have the right wheels and ...)
