A-Justa-Foot
I found these on line the other day and tracked them down to Technicaids in Kewdale.
A-justa-foot(TM) Specifications - Ball Jointed A-justa-foot(TM)
Bought four of each in 60 and 90 mm diameters. Cheap. $13.50 each plus gst for the big ones and a dollar less for the 60s.
Rather than find out they are not up to the task on the 500kg mill which would require lifting vertically about 100mm to install them, I fitted the 90mm feet to the base of the Douglas. Pretty much a waste of time. At the lowest ram speed, the machine is fairly stable while at both faster speeds the shaper rocks backwards and forwards as a result of the compression of the rubber vibration dampening insert in the foot.
What did appeal to me about having the feet on the Douglas was the ability to slide a tray under the machine to collect the oil. Bit after the event when you see the mess on the floor.
These feet may be better suited to something that operates in a more gentle fashion. I just need to work out a way of neatly fitting them on the Hercus 9".
Yes, I know the shaper should be bolted to the floor.

Bib,
would they be OK for a small surface grinder (hand operated) or should that be bolted to the floor solid too?

Jie,
While they are rated at 800 kilos, they may flex laterally. Who knows? I don't want to struggle lifting the Schaublin only to find the thing quivers like jelly when mounted on those feet.
