Keeping the Missus happy and some shed time!
Hi,
Before I got married and had a bunch of kids I never understood the saying "happy wife, happy life".
Now that I am married with kids I find it hard to get out in the shed and spend time doing the things I want to do (ie play with my toys). Well my two youngest sons' have a fascination with Disney Cars. Awhile ago one of them broke Macks trailer kingpin. It was driving the missus nuts that the boys couldn't play with it, so she tried gluing the trailer to the semi with glag wood glue. Of course it didn't work and she was forced to ask for help.
Spend the morning machining up a new kingpin. About 10mm long, a bit under 6mm diam with a 8mm diam shoulder and a drilled recess. All held in place with trusty super glue.
Probably only last a week or end up through the window but I'm the bloke of the hour (and I've earnt some free time in the shed!).
Ben.

That's what you call a win-win! Now how can I get my nearly 5yo daughter to take an interest in my machines so I can spend time fixing them?

Expert /Ex-Spurt/ -n. An "Ex" is something that has been or was. A "Spurt" is a drip under pressure.

Good one Bwal!
On Tuesday evening a small galv watering can with a broken handle appeared on one of my benches. I remember breaking the handle while playing footy with the dogs a couple of days ago but I forgot to go get it.
The handle was a strip of metal that had been soldered on and fixing it was easy-peasy, Hold handle in position and apply butane torch for 5 seconds at each end. There was more than enough clean solder left on the joint to bond the handle in place so it was done. I then put the can back on its usual perch.
Next morning SWMBO came out to do some gardening and exclaimed "the fairy's have been!" why do you say that?" I asked. "well you take at least a week to do most small things so it can't have been you" Anyway I was King for a couple of days after that small job.

Ive had reasn to fix a few things for the kids and the wife. I try to make out like its a very complex task and say it will take most of the day..... then get in the shed, close the door, fix it asap and use the rest of the time on another project!
Everyones a winner. D

I can only imagine imagine how you feel. With the boys getting hurt seems to be part of everyday life, but as disobedient as they can be there are things they know not to do or touch and they don't push the point. SWMBO isn't worried if they get hurt either, within reason, but i could imagine if we had a girl it would be a different story.
