I'm finding the quality of brand-name tools to change rapidly. Mostly down in quality. I bought a gas paslode framer and loved it so 6months later I picked up a gas paslode brad gun. Big difference in quality. Same with Millwaulkee. I had a huge set of the v28's and I could not fault them. I rolled them over to the m18 set and they are bit mikeymouse. I have a big set of repco sockets when they were made by sidchrome and love them. Bought a Stanley set as well as they were identical. Repco have gone with a cheaper manufacture now. Same with starret. Their old gear is great, but their new gear is giving me problems. Kincrome were great in the past. I would stick with their old sockets now.
I think it comes down to reasearching each tool before you buy them. Their is some great brand name tools now, and some really poor ones.
I would go for the Stanley sets that match the sidchrome, or just sidchrome. But they are 5+ yrs old now. Things might have changed.

Buy your measuring tools from the companies who specialised in them. The Kingkong and Sickchrome tools are monkeys trying to pry your wallet in exchange for their overpriced stuff. They offer measuring tools but those are only as good as eBay chinese made.

I would not be surprised if they are made in the same factory as Moore & Wright rebadged. Look carefully many of the rebrands look alike.

If you want analog dials, stick to the Europeans. The swissmade are just like watches. For digital, stick to Mitutoyo. But you might want to consider twice before handing your money to a company accused of supporting the North Korea and Iran nuclear weaponry.

I find cheap and cheerful wallet friendly measuring tools okay for the shed, I use them quite often and I don't really have to care for them. But once you handled a quality precision measuing tool you will know the differences.
