I have a L00 back plate that has had a hard life, it has many shallow dings on the internal taper/register where it sits on the spindle of the Kerry lathe.

My plan is to take a light skim off the internal taper and see if it cleans up and it maybe useable . If it doesn't work out I haven't lost anything because the backplate is not useable as it is.

Problem is I need to mount the backing plate in another lathe set the compound over to cut a precise angle: looks like it is 8 degrees 17 minutes and a 50 seconds !

I have looked at this utube Setting A Lathe Compound to a Nearly Perfect Angle - YouTube
