Yes for me too thanks Andrew might see if we can take the grandkids they are lovers of steam.

My daughter and I went over for the weekend and while the numbers were definitely down on Novembers 100th I thought they were pretty much in line with previous rallies.
Lake Goldsmith is a good rally because there are always some rare engines on display that you just don't get to see very often and it's a great place to catch up with some very knowledgeable people.
I had a great chat with the owner of a beautiful Crossley Model L and Ella was fascinated to learn some basics of boiler operation from another old timer.
Here are a few photos for anyone who might be interested, apologies for the size.

Photos 1 & 2 are of a couple of rare locally made engines, I have seen a bigger version of the Dadswell & Merrett Federal engine but never one this small, and the beautifully exotic G Kay & Co of Stawell engine is of a style I have never seen before unfortunately I didn't get to see it running.
You've just got to love these reminders of just what our local industries were capable of once upon a time.

Photo 3 is a 1908 Crossley model L complete with its original regulator, radiator and muffler.

Photos 4 & 5 are an Aveling & Porter Invicta Roller and a Clayton Steam Wagon.

Photo 6 Ella with her 1937 Lister Model A.

Ella was seven (she's now nine) when she asked if we could restore an engine together and this Lister Junior was the end result. She had been training for a karate tournament which was held yesterday (the 5th) but when she learned a few weeks ago that this Lake Goldsmith was to have a Lister theme she insisted that we had to take her engine over. She said there will be plenty more karate tournaments to compete in but who knows when there will be another Lake Goldsmith rally dedicated to Lister, how could I argue with that logic?
Both her and our six year old son are already asking what we are going to work on next.

Nice pics Greg, I hope you asked how the bearings are going on the second shaft of the roller in pic No 4. They are the bearings I re-machined after someone else completely stuffed the job, and charged the poor owner a figure in the 1000's. It looks like they went ok.
Great job on the restoration of the Lister. Ella is certainly pleased with the effort
I'm annoyed I couldn't make it now.
