Just wondering how many members are going to Lake goldsmith this November? I will be there on the Saturday & Sunday if anyone wants to catch up for a coffee.

I won't be there this rally, I'll be on holidays in another state at the time. If anyone does go I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Phil

Thanks for the reminder tinkera!
I've booked holidays but forgotten to even keep check of the website.
I especially hope to check out the blacksmiths.

Should be a great holiday tinkera, I still don't know how she slipped it in over the goldsmith weekend though
Hi Andrew,
does this mean that you will be visiting the 'Hill' while I am away?
I hope not as I really really wanted to meet and have a chat.
I only have about a gazillion questions for you.

The better half and I are coming across from Adelaide specifically to go the Lake Goldsmith Rally and will be visiting the hill as we do every trip east. She's in shock, this is the second holiday we've had in 30+ years of marriage that hasn't revolved around my motor racing - this could become a dangerous habit!

Not like you to let a date like that slip by...
It's one of those rare places and special events that sticks in the mind long after you've left, and even then you think of something days later that you should have had a closer look at or asked a question about...
I'm hoping to get back there again.
Regards
Ray

I also hope to make a regular pilgramage to Goldsmith in the future.
Catch up would be great, Phil. Which 'Hill' do ya mean? Sovereign, Swan or Broken? I know they all have interesting stuff.
My local club the Campbelltown Steam & Machinery Museum are having their spring rally on 12/13th Oct this year; Field days - The Campbelltown Steam & Machinery Museum Website
Am planning a blacksmithing presence as I type.

Visiting south...
Phil, I wasn't planning Ballarat this trip, but will be looking for any excuse to do it again!
Suggest away at a good time to visit, I've finally signed up to the Sov Hill e-newsletter for events.
I'm sure I'd have more questions for you Phil!
see ya,
AndrewOC
PS does anyone know the blacksmithing guys at Lake Goldsmith? It would be great to hang out with them on their side of the fence'Waratah' spring hammer by Hands & Scott c.1911- 20, 'Duffy, Todd & Williams' spring hammer c.1920, Premo lathe- 1953, Premo filing machine.

Hi Andrew,
anytime is a good time to visit (except when I'm on holidays ) Probably best to avoid the Victorian school holidays although there is a few different things going on during that time which is great for the kids.
Our resident blacksmith and his apprentice are away at the moment. The blacksmith is overseas learning more blacksmithing and his apprentice is up your way, (NSW) attending trade school so now is not a great time.
I would probably annoy you too much if you turned up while they are away
Apologies for not pointing out I was talking about Sovereign Hill but glad you worked it out anyway
I will see what I can find out about the blacksmiths at Lake Goldsmith. I don't know them so if there is anyone else that does....
Phil
