Lathe needed
looking for a good second hand metal work lathe. I know they are as rare as rocking horse %$#*, however they are out there hiding in someones back shed under a tarp for the last twenty years. I don't need anything massive 22" or above B/C. I am trying to steer clear of the old school Hercus', the model 'C', as there are none out there available that have not been thrashed until they chatter.
Hope someone can help, $1500 is my max budget. I need to get second hand with accessories, new ones don't come with much!

Moyles of Sydney (www.moyles.com.au) are listing a Hercus on their website for $795. Could be worth a look. There is a Southbend about to close on Ebay. A couple of starting points anyway.

I have a Hercus. You can still do good work even if worn a bit. Depends on the individual machine. The 260 model is better.
