indexing . that is a 60 tooth gear .so job in the chuck i can scribe with the tool post equal divisions 2 ,3,4, 5,6,10,12,15, 20 , 30 and i probably forgot a few .and i can change the gear to another one of the lathes gears for some other divisions it will be handy for laying out bolts circle holes , then again when i get my mill it may not get used have to wait and see.

60 on that one but any of my change gears will fit on .

my lathe already had a 16 tpi female thread in the end of the spindle so i made the gear hub to fit that ( that was not easy as i never had anything to test the thread i was cutting with so i had to keep taking the job out of the chuck to try it in the end of the spindle ) and the plunger for want of a better word is spring loaded and adjusable in and out to adjust for smaller diameter gears . the block that the plunger is clamped in is bolted on with 2 x 1/4" bolts from the inside of the cover .

Hang a hook off the plunger to hang the power plug for the lathe on when the indexer is in use. If it still gets noisy when you turn the lathe on you deserve it.

Nice job. I may have to think about something like that.
