Hi there. I dont mean any disrespect but what % rigidity issues would come from the base in a cheap chinese lathe? I havs what is essentially the same 12x36 generic lathe and im reasonably happy with it. However the more older stuff I accumulate that is made in aust and europe the more I see the difference. Id be interested in a before and after sample of some finished work to see if I could pick the difference in the mounting system. I still has chinese bearings, minimal surface contact area under the saddle, cross slide and headstock from poorly mated surfaces.

I would have thought its like putting a larger exhaust on an hyundi excell to make it go better?

Like I said. No offence. I got one and im happy with.

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

That's nice. I was just thinking some simple squarish blocks that would be easy to form up.
I can't see levelling the lathe being any more problem than with a steel base.

I like the Franna crane truck. I recently hired one to reposition a loaded shipping container, total weight 15 tonnes, across tricky sloping ground, which it managed easily.

That's a lot of effort and money. Looks the part though. He mustn't be moving anytime soon either.
