Sounds very handy. Can't run it on the mac though.
Was it too complex for a spreadsheet?

Vernonv,
As I have just invested in a new Hafco Al-320 lathe and as I have not yet got my brain around the thread cutting bit this sounds like just what I require, however have tried both my Vista and the cheese & XP to no avail
Regards & keep smiling
Les.

Just a bit of an update on the download issues ... I can open the file OK if downloaded via Firefox, but I can't if I download via IE.
Here are a couple of knowledge base articles from MS.
Issue with XP - Zip Files Downloaded with Internet Explorer Are Not Saved to Your Computer
Issues with IE and the server - An error occurs after downloading a .ZIP file with Internet Explorer (MS are blaming the server settings not IE ).Cheers.

New version v1.0.1
Hi,
I've finally gotten around to adding some improvements (I hope ) to the lathe gears calculator. In this version:
- You can select setups for different lathes. There are only a couple in there at the moment - note that if you know the settings for a particular lathe, let me know what they are and I will add it.
- The calculation of ratios is much quicker now.
- There is a "find missing gear" function that allows you to figure out what gear you are missing for a particular thread you are wanting to cut.
- You can sort the results list by clicking on the column headings.
Again, feedback and suggestions welcome. BTW mods, feel free to remove the old zip attachments if you wish.Cheers.
Vernon.

Better late then never. Here is the latest upgrade to LatheGears with lots of changes mostly based on user feedback.
One of the biggest changes is the ability to set fixed gears i.e. you can set 1, 2, 3 or 4 (unlikely 4) gears that MUST be used in the calculations.
The zip file contains a installation exe file.
I'm still looking for additional .lat (lathe) files that people may have set up for particular lathes. This will allow me to add more "standard" lathes to the selection list.
All feedback welcome ... and I will eventually get around to including it if I can.
Enjoy.Cheers.
Vernon.
