Ok, I think I've fixed this issue. Attached is a new zip file.
For those with issues unzipping the file, you can also download the exe install directly from HERE.Cheers.
Vernon.

Vernon, although I have not calculated any gear combinations, I have downloaded this version, unzipped it and installed it. All went without any hitches and the programs runs and I can select each tab and change options.
No missing DLLs are reported.
Thanks for your efforts.

Ah !
I've got it running fine now , that latest exe file runs fine
That's a very handy bit of work .... and free too .
The Hendey has a 3mm pitch lead screw ..... so that software just what I need to work out imperial threads
Thanks Mike

Runs on Linux
Thanks Vernon.
Runs OK on Linux (Ubuntu) under WINE. Minor permissions issues, but should not be a problem for most Linux users.
Cheers,
Findlay

Thanks again Vernon.
Works a treat for me.
A wish list item would be the ability to specify some gears as being for use in the B and C positions only.
Syntax suggestion:
- * implies anywhere
- *ABCD also implies gear can be in all positions
- *B restricts the gear to being in position B
- *BC restricts the gear to being in position B or C
For my Hercus, the 127/100 combination and the 80 are 2 such beasts. This would reduce the number of possible combinations displayed.
Two observations
- In the config files - specifically the Hercus gearbox ratios, it is clever how the ID number matches the ratio number with position determined by ratio order.
- As a basic hercus A config file - maybe only the 20, 40, 80 and 56 change gears? with the gearbox ratios as set. - as is it is easy to edit out the extras.
Given my not quite complete set of change gears for metric thread cutting, the calculator has so far been able to find a combination for cutting the thread I want.
Thanks againLast edited by HavinaGo; 24th May 2012 at 03:05 PM. Reason: too many onlys

Thanks again Vernon,
We should be buying you lots of drinks for this.
Down loaded OK will put it to good use in a day or so. I have been a bit slack with the lathe lately due to travel & a building program, no slowing down when retired.
Regards, Les.

Done, with one minor exception. You MUST specify the position i.e. you can NO LONGER use the * by itself.
Link to download installation exe is HERECheers.

Question
The change gears you mark with a asterisk * . This is the gear on the spindle end ?
Or am I wrong again ... Mike

Depends. If you want to always use a particular gear (lets say a 40 tooth for example) as the A gear, you would enter it into the gear list as *A40. Lets say if you always wanted the B and C gears (or you are only using 3 gears) to be a 30 tooth you would put *BC30 into the list.
Does that make it any clearer Mike?Cheers.
Vernon.

Thanks Vernon,
Have set up one config file for cutting metric threads with
G12=*C100
G13=*B127
and another for cutting imperial threads
G12=*BC80
I choose the correct "lathe" for the thread and "Bob's your uncle" - out pops a concise list of possible combinations.
Fantastic!cheers

OK I got it .. thanks
Yes, I noticed the same version glitch as PC .. to get around this, when I saved the different versions on my memory stick, I named them as .1 or .2 etc . Mike
This is a very useful tool , and it saves time, instead of mucking about with a calculator , you can see answers in quick time .

Good point about the version being included in the filename. I'll do that from now on.
The current version is V1.1.3.5. You can check what version you are using by going to the About tab.Cheers.

gear train
Out of interest : this pic depicts the Hendey gear train in one of its configerations . This is a imperial version, mine is metric .
The top most gear is the spindle gear , the next gear down, slides and engages the power feeds .
Its rather complicated .
