Thread: LED light for lathe.

Have you measured the 24VAC?
I vaguely remember having an issue like this on some led light or other I had on my mill. If I recall correctly the problem wasnt 50Hz flicker as such, it was the LED driver shutting down over V. (ok so you still got 50Hz flicker). did you try leaving the bridge in and forgetting about the cap?
On my lathe if none of the contactors are closed the V goes high enough for the LED to shut down(some times). If one contactor is closed it stays on. One of these days I'll find a larger resistor.

Hi Guys,
It seems that nowadays most led lighting uses some kind of controller to provide exactly the right current and voltage for the string of led that they are feeding. The ones that quote "dimable" are the ones that can tolerate a wider range of supply voltage from quite low to what ever maximum they are rated at. Few are it seems are just a simple series resistor.Best Regards:
