Leftover part from BS 4 Bandsaw??
Hi Fellers,
I grabbed myself a bandsaw from H&F, the little BS 4A jobbie. I have put it all together, no thanks to the dodgy manual.
Anyway, I have a plastic block part leftover, no idea what its for or where it goes. Its about 15cm in length and has a pointed end. There is a hole through the middle of it.
Does anyone know where this part fits onto the machine?
Cheers,
Mick

I was stumped by that too.
My best guess is that it's a blade rest---if you stand it on the bed within the work-clamping area, the point fits into the backbone of the frame and prevents the full weight of the top casting resting on the off switch.
I'm presuming its a quick and dirty design revision to cope with premature death of the power switch.
Have I guessed wrong?--
The IEEE has monitored this posting and affirms that no energy was created or destroyed during its composition or transmission.

When you find out what it's for, let me know. I have never used it, and have no idea what it's for either!

Hi Mike,
No idea what your plastic thing is, but here is a manual that might help with other adjustments.

Well, I feel a bit better knowing I am not the only one with this issue.
I reckon you maybe right unixbigot, I can see no other place for it.
Thanks for the link to Grizzly Stu, wish H&F would include this with the bandsaw.
Next project is to make a taller stand for it, I am 6' 6" and the saw is built for a ompa lompa!

I'm glad I wasn't the only one stumped by that one... full credit to you for asking Mick... I was too embarrassed !
Unixbigot - doesn't the height adjuster bolt do what you describe? I think I ended up dismissing the spare bit as part of the packing, but I was never really sure. Cheers - Mick

Thanks Mike,
I clicked on your second link in your previous post but not the first. My bad, anyway have looked at it now and thanks. May look at buying the BS-4A.
