Line of Chords Ruler
Anyone know about these older rulers or even still use them?
I was looking at one of these somewhere on line and think I understand the way they were used to measure or set out angles. The calculated chords must be dependent on a set diameter or radius - what radius do these rulers use?? Or have I got it mixed up??

Hi,
Without going to the shed and rummaging about for it, what I do remember was a circled dot on each leg.The scale was limited to120 degrees.
The scale was read , the angle required was read off the scale and a pair of dividers set to the required angle off the scale.
The ruler was then adjusted from its pivot point and the dots were lined up with the point to point measurement of the the dividers.
It was an expensive tool !
Scribe your angle.
