lining up for vertical illing
I bought a vertical milling slide from India recently, first & last purchase from there.
The base of the slide, that sits on the cross slide, is 35 thou out of square with the slide itself. (The dovetails).
I have worked out a way to bolt the slide face down to the cross slide, so the base is then sitting vertical(ish).
I just need to figure out a way to align the slide perfectly along the lathe axis, so I can machine the base to true square, probably with a fly cutter.
I am sure the way I have pictured it will get me a lot closer than it is now, but there is very likely a much better way??
