Thread: Lipstick On a Pig

It's looking good, now you can no longer call it a pig, LOL
Plastic locking blocks? The HM series come with cast iron and I would have thought that would have been a standard across the range of mills.
That locking lever looks good, thinking about it mine could do with something like that instead of the little chrome standard bent over knob.
A lot of people complain, but these Chinese mills start off rough when you buy them, but after some fiddling and a few mods they are not a bad machine, and best of all they are affordable.

Noice lipstick there, noice "pig" for that matter too. I don't really like that you call it a pig though.
Now for goodness sake and especially mine, please make some mess on it so I won't feel bad about my HM30, or my other machines for that matter.
CheersIf I'm not right, then I'm wrong, I'll just go bend some more bananas.

G'Day Log,
The pig only got a clean up for the photo, and after milling cast iron and bronze, it needed it. (thank god for the shop vac) but give it a few days and it will be back to normal
Regards,
Martin

Cast iron, nice stuff to clean up, LOL
I keep my mill table clean all the time, the swarf tray not so much but I do get most of it out after the end of each job. The lathe gets a light clean often and a deep clean every 2-4 months. With the mill table if you don't keep it clean it makes it hard to get T nuts in.
The last thing I want to do when starting a job is to clean up the mill or lathe from the last job.
I also find leaving shavings only attracts rust, my mill table still looks like it did when it was new, and so does the lathe, but the lathe is showing small signs of age with a few little nicks hear and there on the cross slide.
They cost me a lot and I don't have the money to buy another, so I will look after them so they will stay like new.
