Lipstick On a Pig
G'Day Fellas,
Got so sick of the crappy plastic knobs and handles on my RF31 that I finally got around to knocking up new ones in aluminium , ($20.00 in off cuts). Doesn't make it any more rigid or accurate (lets not go there) just a little more pleasant to use.
Next project new table handwheels and ratchet screws.
Regards,
Martin

It looks good, I had to look twice at the photo as it looked like chrome!. You might be getting into gilding the lily territory if you now did a caustic dip and then a nitric de-smut dip before clear anodizing it .

Hi Steran,
The quill scale came from a vendor in Tasmania who seems to have disappeared.
As I remember the price was about $45.00. An Ebay search should turn up a few other sellers as they are fairly common.

It's on the to do list, but needed a quick fix. It has only taken me 4 years to get around to making more quick change tool holders, which I am doing at the moment.

Martin, is that down fee hand wheel standard on your machine? It looks the part.
I only got a plastic one along with all the other plastic hand wheels on my mill.

Hehehe, Many years ago I crashed my left hand end table feed handle into a piece of barstock that was overhanging the bench (at rapid traverse speed of course) It split straight in two and you'll never guess how i put it back together......
Martin,
That looks great, although i want to do this to my lathe i really don't see the point on the HM50, its a pig and will be no matter what i do to it........(ok maybe that was a bit harsh?)
