Default I need one of these little clips.

But I don't know what they are called.

I asked this question in my third hand for a drill press thread but maybe someone not interested in drill press third hands may be able to identify the thing.

I could very well be wasting everyone's time here asking the question but anyway ....

You can still buy them bob. We used to call them omega clips. Some tractors still use them in places.

Good on you Phil. Now that I have a name I'll start searching.

    Its an External Hitch Pin.
Smith Fastener Company - Hitch Pins has them. If you click on a part number you'll see the pins.

Default Possible source of Omega clips

My bearing place has opened kits of different types of goodies from which they give or sell one offs etc to customers. So you could try your local bearing place/s.

Whenever I'm buying trivial from my bearing guys I usually buy something extra just so I don't feel bad, though they don't really care and often just give a regular customer the trivial item or two. There are always plenty of good extra things to whet the appetite, that's for sure. I shouldn't go there too often.

    Cheers.

If I'm not right, then I'm wrong, I'll just go bend some more bananas.

    Circlips - Circlips Selection

They call them plain wire rings. Don't look real plain to me.

I can't imagine someone selling one clip. I may replace the pair with more conventional circlips.

I read it as "Special Wire Rings
    For shafts" type A1100
I reckon my local bolts and fasteners or Bearing supplier would have them in stock.
Would you like me to check and send a few over?

If you are out and about and one of those places is nearby, why not Joe. If they were available, 4 would be perfect. I'd replace the lot.

Has that gear rolled up yet?

Yes, Bob it has! I was just typing a PM to you then....
You parcel arrived in today's mail.
The handle looks terriffic and the badge is nice. I think I can solder a brass screw onto the back to replace the broken one. I'll post a pic when fitted.
Thank you very much for you generosity!

    Hello Bob,
I have these in quantities of more than I will ever use. The sizes are 1,25mm wire dia and 5 to 6 mm shaft size. If they are suitable I will post some across to you.
    Regards, Mm. (Phillip)

    Hey Joe,

I have sent you a more verbose email. Saw the handle off the crank and replace it with a tapered steel version to match the downfeed handle. Throw the badge away. Rod's looks good without it. I should have left my camera with him. The condition of his Douglas warrants a photo essay / thread of it's own.

The Champion packs that most nut and bolt places have, refer to these as Retainer Springs. Have some of these in imperial sizes.
