Some years ago I made some rough Vee Blocks by welding thick walled angle to flat steel. These were made to clamp stuff to pipe or at least to enable a clamp to stay on a piece of pipe. Mostly for welding up gates and the like but also used for many other things. I have not found the need to use them in my bandsaw but there is no reason why they would not work. I also made a long version with a gap for drilling round material. They are not what you would call accurate but are good enough for all but the most precise requirements. The drill press vice I am still using is also welded up from bits of steel back when I had limited machinery to make accurate gear. It still works ok.

For bundle cutting, better get a heavy duty vise. Try using screw vise too , does great job.
