Lubricants for AL 320 G
Hi all,
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I recently got my self an AL 320 G lathe from Hare and Forbes and the instruction manual gives a new meaning to the word "translation". As far as I can work out grease 3#Ca is an old type calcium grease and oil 20# would just be a 20 weight oil like Tellus, etc. As most greases are lithium based now with moly additives I guess they would be ok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi RPG,
Welcome, this manual may help. It looks pretty much like your lathe minus the milling head and the carriage motor controls.

G0492 12" x 36" Metal Lathe w/ Milling Head
I use LOMA32 in the headsotck, others use 68

Check out this thread... the discussion concerning suitable lubricants should apply to your geared-head lathe as well.
