Dial Gauge Addiction
No one could accuse me of having a dial gauge addiction... well maybe they could, and they would probably be right...
I couldn't resist this large dial Mercer type 44 0.0001" divisions, long travel, and large 3" dial...
The stand is suffering from "flight rust" but should clean up ok.
The small divisions are tenths of thou, and so +-10 on the dial is +- 1 thou.. so the travel is 10 thou per revolution and maximum 30 revolutions.
But the thing I really like is the large 3" dial..
Regards
Ray

Ray, If the more common units are sometimes referred to as "clocks", should your Mercer be "Big Ben"? Nice acquisition by the way.

Ray, Stu.
Do you have a favourite?
My go to is a.0005 " Mercer on a Mercer push button mag base, a bit of a beater that doesn't get cupboard storage. My favourites and maybe most used after the Mercer would be the Mitutoyo DTIs that swap places on a Noga base.

Do I get to count my two dial verniers? If so I make it just over 40, and to think 18 odd months ago I had 4! The blame to be shared between BT and Ray.

I'm not in the race boys. I'd be better off collecting something useful like Man Junior.

If we're going for size, a mate has a 5 or 6" diameter Mercer in his shop, I'll see if I can get a pic next time I'm round there.
