Files are detempered in a kitchen oven or a BBQ and then the teeth are ground away.
Shaping is with a water cooled thin kerf cutting blade on an old 8" table saw dedicated for use with those blades.
Nice work Bob (esp the shoulder plane)! Is it predominantly River Gum? Good to see I'm not the only one who has a thing for copper ferrules - is that an aesthetic choice for you or are there practical reasons behind it?
Had to have a giggle at the BBQed files.:U

Cheers FF, the place is curly jarrah, one of the few bits of timber I have paid for in the last 6 years. I used the small amount of leftover to make the marking knives in the other post.
Copper ferrules are just bits cut from copper water pipe fittings I have in my scraps box.
RE: BBQ files: complements my dishwasher washed chain saw motor parts.
