need metal lathe parts help
Hi all: I've got a lantaine metal lathe Model LAM 350CH that needs to have replaced the worm gear between the apron and the bed. From various pictures posted around, it looks like the Repco/ Frejoth/ Peerless models might be clones of mine. Any ideas where to confirm this or are these companies still around? If I could get hold of them, maybe I could get back to playing! Thanks for your time, Wayne.

I think the best way to confirm is from the pics. I know that my Frejoth (what sort of a name is that anyway) looks identical and the parts description and the like matches identically.
You will have zero success in finding these still being imported.
I have seen problems with that worm gear mentioned before.....hope your wallet is big as a custom made one is not cheap.Cheers

worm gear
Thanks for your prompt reply HUX. You are right. I probably am going to get spares made. You know; its like $100.00 for one and $110.00 for four. I hope!? Anyway, thanks for the reply, Wayne.

You might find the following helpful.

List details of the worm gear if you need to have one machined.
There are a few people with this type of lathe. Might be worth machining several and splitting costs if it is a part which commonly wears.

lantaine
Hi Schwartzy; Thanks for the reply. I've sorta got it into action here on Van Isle. I'm just waiting for a, probable, final negative reply from Vancouver before I take my hat in hand and go out of town to Campbell River and get another and maybe multiple worm gears made. Wayne.
