Starting a new adventure! I have acquired two small Denbigh and a large John Heine metal spinner lathes. I have taken one of the Denbighs up to the museum for future demonstrations. But need to find a suitable 1-2Hp motor and VFD. Being a museum we’d rather not have a modern looking motor on display. The VFD is easier to hide.

The second Denbigh I have stripped down and am restoring presently.

I’m am currently researching the tooling required and have been given some advice by a local metal spinning company that has now gone CNC . For spinning copper, brass, aluminium the tooling should be 4140 and 20-25mm dia in a 40mm handle that is about 600mm long. For steel a bronze rod is used.

Also a D2 hardened wheel in a handle for beading and a 1/4” HSS tip in a handle for parting. This is a matter of boring a hole in the end of a rod and adding two grub screws. The sq HSS gets the corners ground roundish to fit.
So some work to be done making those.

Whilst all this is going on I need to find some drawings/ideas for small items that can be made as demonstrations and sold at the museum. Google has been to fruitful and I am wondering if anyone here has some in an old textbook or from tech school?
