I could tow it for you Andre but it's a bit far. Maybe there's a member in your area who could help?

I'd almost bet money it doesn't weigh 1500kg.
Do what i did - dismantle it and take it in pieces.
The bed weighs a bit, remove the ends, take out the leadscrew and slide off the bed with an engine crane. Remove the ram and the head. and if need be, seperate the head/motor from the ram.
I have some photo's of how i did mine? will dig them up and post them up if it helps?
Cheers
Jon

I would go for it, it will last you lifetime if looked after.
Just make sure you give it a good check over before buying it.
As for the power, there are ways around it as others have done.

Found them.
Excuse the poor quality. Took about 3-4 hours from memory to get it level, setup and back together again.

A good thing about pulling a mill down is you can give it a clean while your their.
Even when I got my new mill I pulled it down and removed the grit that the factory left.

Jon you're a braver man than I, lifting that table and saddle from the tee slots.

Agree Brian.
I lifted mine with the sling around both ends and a small block of 40x20 pine in the dovetails each corner to save the straps from sharp edges.
Jon
I meant to ask about you engine crane, did the ram pack it in? As I see it laying in the back ground in one of the pictures and the crane has a red ram on it.
There is not much to them inside to rebuild.

$1500 sounds like a great price! X-mass has come early for you eh welder
Just as a thought have you got an idea of how you will take it apart for transport? Just a tip you can take the head off easier by tilting the head 90deg and cranking the knee up with a few big blocks of wood, after doing that unbolting the head shouldn't be to hard. Tilt the head in the X direction (long ways to the table) I have heard the worm gear on the Y direction (cross ways to the table) have a tendency to break if you move it to far. Have you thought of welding up a Pallet with wheels to make moving easier it shouldn't be to hard make.happy turning

Bryan, Dave - That's how the lads removed it and loaded it onto my trailer when I purchased it. My mill is a toy compared to the stuff they normally deal with. If I ever need to move the mill I won't be removing it that way as the T-bolts and the saddle were loaned.
Dave, I thought it had packed it in, it turns out it was low on hydraulic fluid - probably from being stored on it's side under the house for a few years. I now have a spare ram for some other half baked project I'll come up with and fail to finish.

Hi Andre,
Bad luck about the mill, but I wouldn't worry, there will be others. I'd say congratulations to you on working out how much you could afford and sticking to the budget.
Regards
