what was going on yesterday. I read in Greg's add that they weigh 740kg. i told the truck driver 650 opps.
a crane truck is a great way to move these things.
at the sale a guy offered to sell me the horizontal arbor support for $350. ill keep that in mind.
now i just have to get a few collets. a vfd.
plus the table has a few marks which id like to machine out. ill have to think about the best
    way to do that.

    Congrats Aaron

I didn't think they would be that heavy. When I saw the one at the uni last week I was a bit supprised at just how small they are.
As for the table, getting someone to grind it would be the best I would think.....well I would say that now wouldn't I....I would do it but I'm a bit far away.

    Cheers,

    hi ew
They are small but i think should do the trick.i had a closer look at the machine today.
It must be missing an electrical control box. I'll replace that with a vfd.
the table is pretty shocking and had been bogged up a bit. I dont think the table
represents the condition of the rest of the machine . Luckily

    SAM_0775.jpg
The horizontal spindle is a mt40. like a few knowledgeable people said it would be.
and ill have to get the books out to confirm the vertical spindle.

ill up load some more photos. i like the light but not so much the guard. Even though it looks
handy to stop coolant flinging around every where

I see what you mean...that guard would drive me crazy, but the weird thing is it looks to me like it's on the wrong side, since isn't the operator position is on the other side of the table?

    Aaron, 40 or 4??

This may prove handy down the track - Pulling apart a Deckel FP1 | Hyllest and here's a bit on the tapers. Mk 4 and Sk 40 tooling

And to add to the list, here is a thread about table planing. Reconditioning deckel tables

    Good morning Aaron,

Read the thread on PM thread on tapers before you pull your wallet out. Deckel use an external buttress drawbar thread on their tapers. There are adapters ( Deckeldapter - http://www.gizmowizard.com/deckeldap...apter_main.htm ) that may enable you to use more readily available tooling.

I was hoping Greg Q, Alan "C-47" or Glen "BrianLara400" might read this thread. GQ and Alan have FP1s, Glen a Riken, Japan's version of the little Deckel.

I don't own a Deckel, some may consider I'm talking out of my ####.

Default its a mt 4 or it appears to be

thanks agan Bob. A buttress thread draw bar.i thought it felt funny.
im not shore if i want to use an adapter sleeve. may be but
i have to think about the limited clearance over the table.
Ill jave to hit every one up for the where to buy collets ect.
I have a small quick release machine vise that will work for now.

great mill. The deckels are so smooth, never owned one but used a few. Re the table, try re bogging and then stoning smooth. I would not mill it and only grind it if you could set it up yourself or personally know who'd be doing it.

    Good luck.

    Default Deckel Tooling

    Hi Azzrock,

I have been thinking about posting a question here about tooling for Deckels

I have a FP2LB in route at the moment.

I understand it takes SK40 S20 x 2 tooling. Which is a standard 40 taper tool with a male 20mm x 2mm buttress thread to suit the Deckel drawbar. The taper centers the tool in the spindle and then a drive ring provides drive between the spindle and the tool holder.

I understand from this thread that you have an MT4 taper spindle. In German this is "MK4". I think it may use the S20 x 2 thread. Thread adapters are available to go from a 5/8" 11 TPI to the S20 thread and also from a 16mm to S20.

It is possible to replace the Deckel drawbar with something with a more "standard" such as 5/8" or 16mm thread. I'm thinking of retaining the S20 drawbar in my machine as I could use adapters threads to suit a wider range of tooling. This may be some what moot as you maybe able to get all the tooling you want with say a 5/8" threaded drawbar.

I have done global searches on ebay and found some tooling in Germany for SK40 at this ebay shop Singer Werkzeugmaschinen Reparatur items - Get great deals on Diverse Spannzangen, SK 40 Werkzeuge S20x2 items on eBay Stores!

Currently he has 112 items listed for MK4 tooling. None of it will be Chinese cheap.

Possibly the best person to speak with about your tooling is GregQ as I understand he has an FP1 with MK4 tapers.

    Cheers
