That's interesting about Shipito. I was one of their first customers, but let my subscription lapse as I had exhausted the entire American wish list. I didn't know that they have an Austrian agent now. Suddenly new vistas in FP2 accessories are opened.
My early FP1 only has 250mm x travel, but I don't reckon that would be an issue for me if I keep it.
I am still embarrassed for choice having tow Deckels and an Aciera and only having room in the Ark for one.
...and for those tool junky/vultures out there: I have several kilos of like new solid carbide form tools and 1/8" gun drills that I will sell for 92% off retail. Let me know.

Aaron,
Empty your inbox!
On a side note Greg, I was looking at a vertical gun drilling machine on ebay the other day. Coolant pressure 1000psi! Now I knew they liked pressised coolant but 1000psi? really? or do you think it was a slip of a 0?
Stuart
p.s. lol great timing Aaron.
p.p.s. thinking about the gun drill a little more if my maths is right I guess the pressure is so high as the area maybe so small.

When I read 1000psi I think: [I]wimps[/ the hydraulics on my aeroplane run at 3000 psi, and they are as reliable as dirt. I think that 1000 psi would be about right for coolant delivery through those tiny passages in the tools.
A few years ago at the manufacturing show at Melbourne there was a CNC mill demo running. They were machining something with coolant, but the viewers could have been viewing a dishwasher or car wash for all they knew: coolant being blasted everywhere inside the enclosure. I could not detect a single machining operation inside that Niagara of suds. I imagine 1000 psi would have been kids stuff to them.

Deckel Work Envelope...
Hi BT,
Apologies for the slow reply, the Z clearance varies depending on the table and spindle type... so it gets a bit complicated. But regardless, the Z work envelope quickly diminishes when you start adding stuff..

sweet the small stuff
Although my mill is far from running.
ive had a play with all the handwhells ect.
I think the machines limitations seem
trivial compared to how it all just moves and turns
so beautifully smooth. it just feel like a million dollars.
Its a pretty nice feeling to have my own little
top quality mill.
its fantastic.

Dirt is very reliable you know. 3000 psi? The higher the pressure the less reliable I would think. You do have manual backup don't you?????? A handle to wind the landing gear down etc!
I have worked in a factory with CNC lathes and a mill. I have used them. That was a long time ago but I think the dishwasher action comes from the speed of the chuck more than the coolant pressure. They have motors that can accelerate very, very fast. The comutators are nearly as big as the stators. The coolant pumps would be more than the average lathe but not by a huge amount. That was a long time ago tho!

deepdrilling
with the rifle barrel drilling i have a feeling that the hight pressure has a lot to do with adding chip clearance

oldie but a goody
g'day all as you may of noticed the collapsed wheel on the trolly my mill was sitting on.
I was not looking forward to moving my mill.
with the help of my trusty best mate and being inspired by this utube clip. moving the mill
was no big deal.
The Mill Move - YouTube
we used some 5/8 treadled bar on each corner to jack up the machine and then remove the broken trolly.
then slowly lower it on to some water pipe.
a lot easier than i imagined.

progress
hi again,
i haven't started to get my mill running yet. i didnt have any cutting tool holders ect.
that was until the other day.
thanks to another member here i now have a handful of collets. so ill have to get on with
it. well not only collets i also have a few new attachments for the fp1.
a indexing head. internal angled high speed head.
there is a few photos once ive cleaned them up more ill take more.
the indexing head seems to big for the little mill but feels just like
a deckel when you turn it.
i suppose the next job will be to insure the motor is connected right for
a vfd and find a spot. maybe clean out the coolant tank check oil levels ect..

Ah!! The signature Draught is back !
Nice accessories Aaron. The corner milling spindle head would be a seldom seen bit of gear I imagine. I'm looking at a catalogue image of the indexing head and overarm mounted on an FP1. It's the same size as yours, big but not too big.
