Good to see your back in business so to speak.
How are you liking the new workshop O'l mate?

Do you have any idea if you'll get your old shop back at any stage, Or it hasn't got that far yet..
It's been a while since we have had a good chat mate, But it looks like your getting some motivation back found your freedom..

Nice job, seeing that aluminium framework on the ground looks like you're making up an old aeroplane.

    Hi Dave,

Good to see those "roundtoits" we all seem to have and collect has finally come to be the real thing. Time helps in the design process. Nice well planned and executed project with house keeping included in the project.

    Cheers

    Default Mill coolant tray

    Hi Dave,
A well thought out design for your tray, that would have taken a fair bit of head scratching.Nice workmanship on the construction as well, I can now see why you needed to buy those pop rivets by the thousand. Raising the mill up is a great idea, every time I use mine I appreciate the extra height.

Thanks Christian, do you have any links or pictures to that sort of work as I would be interested in looking at them.
I came across aircraft rivets in my search but they need special tools.

Thanks for the replies, Eskimo, Stuart and Bob.

Bob, it did take some head scratching and it varied from the plan in a few places as I don't have 3d drawing, so some things on a 2d plan just would not work out in the real life. Over all it's the design I started with and I have been thinking about the design for a few years now.

When I have been using the standard tray over the years I would often place a piece of sheet metal either side and try to angle the coolant nozzle so it would not run off the end of he vice, so when it came to building it I just incorporated these things into it to catch where I knew it would run off.

I think I will add a small vertical piece under the center of the column that I have already made up with the tray, but other than that I am pleased with what it catches and wouldn't change anything if I was to build another one.
It can be picked up with one hand with or without the wings to be taken out side to be washed out, which is what I was also after, ease of cleaning.

I still need to mount some foldable screens off the column to stop any splashes and chips going over the back and these will drain into the tray. I am having trouble catching these chips especially when using the horizontal spindle with the cast iron I am doing at the moment.

Thanks Des, it makes all the picture taking and posting worth while when I see other members get some ideas from a project.
