    Hi Ben,

If it's just a decent indicator stand you're after, forget the Mits and go for a Noga. I think they might even be a little cheaper?

Messtaster is the German word for a DialTouchIndicator. Puppi has no meaning in German - it most likely comes from the misspelled English word puppy. PuppiTast, a baby-DTI. Not more no less a word play, than the American "Last Word Indicator".

'Puppi' is the German diminuitive for 'Puppe': a small doll. So a 'Puppitaster' is a 'baby test indicator'..... a perfectly legitimate German word.
Mahr chose to abbreviate it to 'PuppiTAST' in line with their other instruments ending in 'TAST'.
    Cheers,

The diminutive for Puppe is Pppchen. I have never heard someone say puppi instead. The word Puppi does not exist in Duden, the most exhaustive German language's inventory of lexemes there is (http://www.duden.de/suchen/dudenonline). The closest word that you can find is puppig, a rather rarely used adjective meaning cute, graceful, doll-like. However puppigtast is not an easy flowing word.... puppytast is, so maybe this is where it comes from? I guess we will never know exactly.
