paypal will refund you the money if you open the dispute as not as discribed item . you don't have to say it fake.
basically buying a fake Mitutoyo is the same thing's as buying a $10 chinese made unit.
i'd stick with vintage mitutoyo stuff that will guarantee you get the real thing's but of course you have to hunt for it.

After having a look around at eBay and the wildly varying prices for 'genuine' Mitutoyo from seller located places such a India, Bangladesh, Vietnam and China...........who knows what you're actually purchasing.

Is there much difference in using a $10.00 Chinese dial indicator compared to a $200.00 Mitutoyo? My only experience has been with the Chinese ones.

If you are trying to pick a fight around here, just say No and see what happens

Two things to bear in mind -
    • A lot of the Chinese/ Indian/ etc knock off gear is a straight copy so they don't understand the design and duplicate manufacturing errors as well as not understand how the features work and the tolerances they need. As a result the knock off could work fine, but could also have things that just don't work. Die cast dovetails that can't be clamped is a common one.
    • Quality assurance means exactly that. With a Swiss or Japanese indicator you are assured that it will work properly and be accurate to specification. With the knock-offs it may be good or it may be bad, and you may not know until it fails or does not behave as expected (for example, a gear jumps a tooth on the rack).

While some have knock off gear and it works well enough for them, the good quality gear is prized because it has been made with care, will probably last longer, will probably stay accurate longer and has a pedigree behind it.

That has not been the case in my limited experience (although things may have changed).

Some time ago I bought a SanDisk memory card which turned out to be a fake - I raised a dispute and said it was fake. PP responded by telling me to return the item to the seller, to which I said I would but only if the seller paid return postage. They refunded my money and asked me to destroy the card.
    Cheers.

I am yet to hear back.....I wonder if my email got spammed. Sending from a hotmail account with links included can be a problem.
