    Hi Jordan

I dug out Rosenberg, (Electric Motor Repair) here is what he suggests to look for if you have a noisy motor.

    Hope that helps

I dismantled the motor to find bad smell and burnt windings. I'm surprised it ran at all. So it was an electrical fault after all.
There were no shims or wavy washers anywhere. I don't know if it ever had any.

I learnt something about diagnosis of rumbling noises anyway, so thanks fellas!

    Jordan
