Motor size
Changing the motor on a Hercus mill to single phase. Should I go for a 1HP or a 1.5HP? I think 1.5HP. The big problem is finding the right flange mount but that's something I'll think about later.

Hello Nev,
The original motor is a 1/2 horsepower . Hercus listed a 3/4 h.p. single phase motor in their spare parts manual. If something goes wrong there is a chance that these two motors might stall. I imagine the 1 1/2 horse motor wont and you could end up stripping the teeth off the fibre drive gear.
Take care
Bob.
