Default MTA support, machine tool grinding

Just thought I would share my experiences with the company Machine Tool Automation which among other things does machine tool slideway grinding..

I have sent my Tool and Cutter grinder saddle and table down there to get the hardened ball ways reground, I simply had no choice in the matter in the end... The quoted price was quite reasonable to the point freight cost more then the job.. But as far as I know Sydney holds the closest grinder capable of doing this sort of work..

The job was done and returned to me.... Upon picking it up I noticed one of the faces on one of the V's was not ground... I assumed the person doing the grinding did not think it needed to be done...

Upon putting it back on the machine base and table on top the table would rock on the ball ways... Removing the table and putting a level across the saddle revealed the V's were way out of wack, obviously due to the face that was not ground..

I checked out the table and the grinding job on it was as perfect as I could ascertain with my equipment..

I did not know whether to contact Mr Tatum at MTA support to enquire about it.... Previous experience in totally different fields has usually been met with, whoever did it does not want to know about it..

Couple of days later I contacted Mr Tatum and told him about it and asked if I was doing anything wrong... He asked for me to email him some photo's..

Next day he comes back and fully admits that the job was not completed when it was removed from the grinder and accepts full responsibility.. I was a bit gobsmacked actually... He offered to redo the job at no cost and also will fully pay freight costs involved.... I have since been paid by him for the freight..

So all in all I can wholeheartedly recommend MTA support to do work for you, they stand by what they do.... Of course if you are in Melbourne I would expect you to use Phil or Marko...

But yea, fully impressed at the integrity and honesty of Mr Tatum... We all know stuff ups happen from time to time, but not every company will stand by the work they do...

That's great to hear! That level of service keeps a job on track. fwiw Crib Point Eng'g south of Melbourne do slideways as well. A contractor Marco does or used to do the work.

Yep thats him. If he keeps at it long enough he will get good at it one day. Accumat bring him in for the ocassional job also.

Came across this post from 2007, years before I joined when searching for something recently.
