    Default some museum ones

    Ok, 'ye olde' workshops;
    Pioneer Settlement at Swan Hill, have a flat belt drive set up with (from 6 years old memory!) lathes, shaper, a planer (I think) and other nicely done up stuff. They also have a modern workshop where they restore old farm machinery in the collection.

    The machinery shed in the Netherby House complex (Fagan Park, Galston, NSW) has a collection of small flat belt drive machines. Special interest is the cutest, littlest planer I have seen.

    Closer to you again, is Old Gippstown in Moe. I remember at least 1 flat belt lathe in the blacksmith's shop.

    The trick is to look in the dark dusty corners!
    ciao,

    Thanks Roger,

    I went with you on one of the previous tours, it was fascinating.

    How about if people respond directly to this thread to indicate interest ?

    Updated list is attached.

    I've had a bit of success simply by knocking on the door of local workshops to ask if I can buy some of their scrap metal - for a few dollars I can get various bits n pieces that I can practice on and after a trip to the "odd ends" bin a quick look around some of the fancy machines is possible once they see that you are interested.
