I can answer this one (with regards to the final project, anyway). Nothing. In fact, unless his teachers get really excited when they get the assessment results in the new year and then chase down the student to let them know what they got, Andre will never know anything. And even after all that, the teacher / school will only get a "school assessment" (which the school gave the board of studies already) and an "external assessment" which is a combination of the exam and the major project mark.
Its pretty easy to infer what the mark of the major project when you know rougly how well you tend to do in exams. Many teachers take their external assessment mark and subtract their trial HSC mark, youll be getting an idea of what the project earned.
The project looks pretty good though, which is good for the amount of time left to complete it. Dont forget the folio though, it is where the vast vast majority of the marks are awarded. A marker would cast a cursory glance and have a quick fiddle with the project itself, but theyll spend much time reading the documentation.

Andre, what controller board did you use?
Some of the cheap chinese controller boards don't have current regulation at all and are intended for little steppers like they use in inkjet printers. They will ALWAYS let the smoke out if you drive more than a few milliamps with them. "Real" stepper drivers have adjustable current control and usually significant cooling fins.
I learnt the same lesson a couple of years ago.....Cheers,
Joe

Well as said earlier I never found out what mark I got for this project. But after sitting in the corner for 2 years I have started on this again I am fitting a ballscrew to move the carriage as I had far to much play in the original leadacrew and halfnut I had planned to do this as part of the original job but my time was limited.

Try contacting your old teacher - they usually get told the marks of their students.
