'Near side' refers to the side of the car nearest the curb - the left side in our case. The top links are the two silver coloured links that are connecting the top of the diff to the body. The near side one (LH side)... actually, I'm talking bollocks. I was looking blindly at the rear end and when I saw the links I thought of a live rear axle. The diff is bolted to the car and therefore those links will not affect the suspension. Sorry.

That's what I was aluding to. As a general rule, large bore exhausts extract the fumes more efficiently and are more suited to high-revving engines (10,000 + RPM) and small bore (restricted) exhausts produce more torque. Before somebody jumps on me, I did say as a general rule - there are all sorts of governing factors to be taken into consideration.
Most of the rice-burners with their drain pipe-sized exhausts are driving around with rough running engines and reduced power (you can hear it in the exhaust note), but you just can't tell young fashion victims anything..

Your forgiven as at least the dattos are rear wheel drive.
When I first got my Ps I used to drive a datto stanza with a firebreathing L16, stock 1 inch exhaust and twin SUs. I loved that car until dad stacked it in the wet one day. He blamed the bald tyres on all corners, I said he just wasnt used to the power (funny because at the time his two cars were a 403 cube pontiac firebird and a hot 253 powered comm)
Re too big exhausts - one of the sacks I went to college with had a stock 1.5l KB laser with a 4 inch exhuast on it. Thing barely started, and ran like absolute ####!

hahaha
i seriously dont understand what goes through some peoples minds, and its not like its a random thought oh lets go spend $800 on a custom 4" exhaust for my laser.. they must think about it for a while and weigh up the positives and negatives no?I'd rather build it than buy it......

It was unbelievable how many KB lasers were getting around when i was at college. Most of em were in the same frienship group. this thing ended up with huge wheels, tinted windows, cut springs...and still retained it bog stock 5hp briggs and stratton performance.
