Well if its not worse and its not the same, it must be better. More than 75% of the error gone has to be close to much better.
Spot on? probably not.
Good enough? who knows maybe, I have no idea what tools, feeds and speeds he is using to get that result. I dont even know which is the big end.
But if you like I'll use the term "a large improvement"

With regard to posts 97 and 101, I was always told that if using a VFD, there should be no switching etc between the VFD and the motor. The reason given was that the electronics are not set up to handle the extra loads that the starts and stops put on the circuitry.
If you want to use the lathe controls you will have to wire them remotely, so that pushing the button on the lathe actually is making the appropriate connections on the VFD.

thanks for the input guys. i still have some play in the cross slide but the bed and carriage looks good.
maybe the head stock had been knocked out of alignment.
hi Michael there is nothing but wire between the vsd and lathe motor. im trying to control the vsd with the lathe controls.
