Thanks Bruce,
It has surprised me how easy it was to make. For the focal length I just measured the overall length and used that to determine the radius of the eye piece. It seems to work well. I have bitten the bullet and ordered an ER32 collet chuck and collets and when they arrive I will be making a centre punch along the same lines as the optics.

Well I couldn't wait for the collet chuck so got to and machined the centre punch. I made this out of a piece of silver steel and hardened and tempered it. I also reshaped the main body and machined an 'O' ring groove in the bottom.
I then gave it a test run and don't think I have ever put a centre punch mark so close to the intersection...ever

Thanks Stuart,
It was worth making, especially with the way my eyes are going.
Only thing left is to make a box to put it all in. With my woodworking skills, it will mean a trip to Bunnies to get one of the little boxes from the craft section.

Thanks for the suggestion
Eddie
Thanks for the tip on the Model Engineer Workshop no 191
I will head up to the newsagent, to see if they have a copy.
After reading about Phils work I was about to order a Veritas Optical Centre Punch from Canada.
I really need one of these as my eyes are fading.
Went out hunting a week ago, flat out seeing anything in the dim light of the afternoon
Regards
Bruce

The Veritas looks like something for the woodies Bruce. Buy a Dankroy if you're not going to go the DIY route.

Dankroy
Bob
Thanks for the suggestion, to go with "Dankroy" I had seen them on Ebay but did not know what the quality was like.
If you reckon they are the go then I think I will run with the Dankroy.
It seems lately, I have got a lot to do & the DIY projects get pushed further back.
regards

Purchased an Optical Punch
I ended up going the lazy way, rather than making one, & purchased a "Dankroy" Optical Centre Punch out of England as per BTs suggestion. Thanks Bob.
It arrived this afternoon.
Very pleased with it, & like lots of things, should have had it years ago.
Makes it easier to be accurate, as Phil said, with fading eyes.
Thanks for the input everyone
regards
Bruce
