    Well I'm half pleased.
Given the last 12 month rental on a BOC E2 I paid was $190.34(I assume an argoshield 54 bottle and an oxy bottle are the same..... apart from the color). Who would have thought a cylinder only lasted two years?

Now if they would just come to Melbourne.

Lookup your local Air Liquid dealer, they have been selling them here for a while now. The big cost is the acet bottle due to the internal honeycomb structure. I think an oxy/acet pair of D's costs about $1200.

If it was Atomic you were thinking of, I think that was short lived, There web site hasn't been updated since 2011, still under construction, and their ebay store has gone.

    Hi Phil,

No it was Speed Gas/Gas Weld... it would seem they have expanded a lot since they were last talked about here. From Perth to Melb to Brisbane.

    http://www.speedgas.com.au/retail-outlet/

I don't know they sell cylinder from all stores but their web site says this

"SpeedGas are able to sell cylinders outright. It makes sense for most clients to own their cylinder rather than pay rent!Rent quickly adds up, owning will save you money. No need for deposits and ongoing rental.
Re-fills are done with a simple swap. We take your empty and give you a full one in return.
    “SpeedSwap”

Owning makes sense, from infrequent users all the way to large commercial clients. If you want Argon and Argon Mixes at the ready and plan to use your TIG Welder or MIG welder longer than a year, you should come out ahead and save ongoing costs! Smart buy and have the tools at the ready."

What you save on rent, you lose on gas pricing. Fairly certain I paid $80 for my last G size oxygen refill.

That would depend how many years you got out of a cylinder...... sure if you're a cylinders per year it might not be for you.

    Default bad idea

this is probably not a great idea but i often thought of filling a small oxy bottle from a larger
    doner bottle
