PCS Measurements, great coustomers service for a precision instrument repair
I just wanted to give a shout out to PCS Measurements in Newcastle.
Great honest service and they had no reason at all to help me out with a Starrett Last Word test indicator that was giving me trouble.
I called Starrett Australia and they don't have a repair centre in OZ that works on Starrett. He did pass say to call PCS measurements as they might be able to help. Gave them a ring and he said just post it and they will have a look but they focus mostly on selling and servicing other brands. They can't get starrett parts.
I posted it off and it was returned in an express bag fixed with no charge.
I called them up and asked for an invoice so I could pay and he explained it took him all of 3mins to fix it so no charge!
I think these guys work on mostly bigger contracts for testing and repairing precision measuring instruments, but the took the time to help me out!
Bloody champs in my book!
Weighing equipment Australia
I remember I had a tiny cosmetic part come loose under a watch crystal. I took it off to a local jeweler to just have it removed as I didn't want to jamb up in the watch hands. He explained it was a big job as he had to pull the whole watch apart to remove it. I paid my $30 thinking it was cheap and he said come back in a week.
About a month after I wanted clean the dust under the crystal as it was looking a little dusty(from the watch repair place) and I realized I could just gently pry the crystal straight up! The guy told me it was a big job, charged me $30 and took a week for something I quite literally did myself in under a minute!
Cheeky bugger!
PCS measurements are the exact opposite!

Thanks for posting this...
...I have used Long island indicator in the past because of the time and trouble they took to make their informative website, plus for their Swiss...uh...Swissness, I guess. Its good to read of another repair shop worthy of business. I have a few things that need attention, and since my default tool is a chainsaw I don't reckon I will be doing the job myself.

Greg, provided that it is a swiss made chainsaw, I'm sure Long Island will look at it. I've used Long Island in the past too, but with shipping to and fro, it's not cheap and it's not quick (although the work is excellent).

Oh no Michael! I meant that my prcision repair tool is a chainsaw. Trouble with your 1 micron indicator? Let's fire up the Stihl and get stuck into it!
You can see why my past repair jobs have never been shown. I don't want to run afoul of any Frankenstein copyright issues.
