Default Pictures of a Wohlhaupter box

Several weeks ago Ewan bought a Wohlhaupter boring head, minus just about everything else that comes with it. As I have the same model I offered some pictures. Belatedly, here they are. This boring head was sold as a Hahn and Kolb set and then when it arrived I realised that it was an early Wohlhaupter. My rough dating puts it earlier than the '50's, so I'm guessing possibly even pre WW2. From memory these heads were first sold in the '20's. Sadly, no museum has made me a new for old offer yet.

The boxed set comes with a removable tray to get maximum packing into the box. The first photo is with the tray in place, the second with it removed.

A close up of the tray itself (it is cracked - one day I'll repair it, I promise!)

There are 4 types of boring tool (although I suspect that the plain straight one may be home made). I was surprised when I used the head to put a register on the mill vertical head how solidly these things clamp together - my first boring head was a little Chinese thing...

Lastly, there is a special tool that is part of the set - here it is "in use". It's stowed position is in the lift out tray. (NB the straight bar in the lift out tray is the stop bar for the facing head)

Thanks for the pics Michael, Ewan will probably open a vein now.
I might have to put one of those on the shopping list.

Your set looks to be missing a few spacers Michael... I will get a pic of mine later...

    Thank you Michael

The only thing that has me puzzled is the bar at the very bottom of the second pic, it looks like it is not a boring bar?

    Ewan,
That item is a boring bar, but chance has orientated it so that it is not showing any holes or flats.

    Richard,
I thought that my set was complete so if there are some spacers missing, please post a pic or two.

pictures of what is in my box.

If Ewan is talking about that small long skinny bar, it is a reaction bar for when you are facing...
