    Stick the piston out in the garage, and when the need arises, piston in it.

    There is a Pub band around here called Piston broke......

    As for the coffee tables, a steel merchant i used to frequent had one in their showroom. The piston was maybe 4-500mm dia, polished with a glass top on it. Looked great. Some years ago i did some work at CASA (civil aviation safety authority) One of the big wigs had a glass topped table in his office, the legs were a helicopter main rotor hub and a tail rotor.
