Thread: postage time from US

Sorry Ray, should have asked. I saw Reliable sold one of those last week and jumped to conclusions (the only exercise I get)
Trying to extract more shipping fees than the listing shows is an ebay problem for which they can be reported. And what's with their $75 domestic shipping?
Anyway, they're in Irvine, close to Irwindale ( Reliable. ) Must be something in the water.

The auction still says it's $175 postage so whats their problem? It's a bit late to change their mind after they sold it.
I am not sure if this is the same one Greg was talking about, but it is called Shipito and have addresses in California, Nevada, Oregon, Hong-Kong and China.
There are a few others around as well, this one is connected to ebay some how?

At least shipito will do one-offs. Although I paid the $50 for a mailbox for a year. I have recouped that by consolidating some shipments into one box on a couple of occasions. They aren't free by any means, but for bulky/heavy items their FedEx discounts more than offset their fees.
The best value of all is still finding a seller who has 19.9 lbs of stuff you need who will cram it into a 20lb flat rate USPS box however. It's all part of the service here at The House of Pain™

Or find one that crams 20kg into a flat rate box and sends it over

Here's another one just to show how inconsistent the post is.
Ordered a small item (fits in an A4 envelope) Air Mail charges $6US
Shipped September 21
Delivered September 27
6 Days shipping!
Go figure.

I suspect that the recent delays may have been compounded by Customs and Quarantine problems here in Aus.
Also has anyone notice excessive delays from Amazon.com orders. I'm convinced that some of my packages end up on the plane to Austria, I've seen the customs stickers over stamped with markings from Amsterdam and Deutche Post for redirection and then they come via Auckland. I've had 1 shipment go missing over the last 10 years and that probably explains it. I thought Amazon had a new fangled computerised system. I'm perplexed as to why something destined for Australia should go via Europe.

I suspect that for some lines Amazon do bulk shipments to NZ and redistribute from there.

Frank at CDCO always helps out..he crams all he can into the 9kg flat rate boxes .I received a box from him in rather quick time .... just goes to show that sometimes, the cross Pacific mail service is reasonably fast . But on other occassions, it's back to the wind jammer, square rigger type sail boat service, and the winds dont co-operate all of the time . There isn't any stability to it all .

I buy a lot of stuff from the US.
The key variable is the retailer's approach. Some do their best to minimise shipping costs and offer a range of options. Others couldn't give a sh*t.
The last parcel was quoted and paid for at $80. Int'l priority. The guy knew I needed it quickly. When it arrived the postage sticker said $110. So he'd got it wrong but wore the difference.
But customs decided it may have included a kilo of some kind of illicit white powder and took a week to inspect and pass it. Missed my deadline. Hey ho.Cheers, Ern
