A Postcard from Linz
Back in Linz again.
Linz is steel city, home to Voestalpine one of the worlds largest steel companies, also home to machine tool makers like MillTurn... This is the first thing you see on entering the arrivals hall at the airport..

Who gave you permission to go away again with out notifing the committee?
I like the look of that, is that a gap bed lathe?
Do me a favour when you get home, take a snap of the first thing you see in our arrivals hall. I wonder what our first impression / message is.
Regards Phil.

CNC Lathe? Cannot see it properly. Some person blocking the view. Should be a law against that!

Glad to hear you arrived safe.
Is there a bet on yet to whether the big round place you are going does its own maintenance or not? I hope they do and i hope you take lots of pics......

I hope so, but we got the go ahead from CERN yesterday for a special underground tour... more later, but should be interesting..
Glad you guys like the Millturn
I'll take a picture in Melbourne out of interest but from memory I think it's an ad for a bank or mobile phone company

G'Day Ray,
I think our arrivals hall has a "no taking pictures" sign... they did have a life size picture of the largest crocodile in Australia. Try taking a picture on arrival to the USA and see what happens ).
If you're visiting CERN in Geneva, and are going to be there around diner time try:
Manège de la Chaumaz SA
Address: Chemin de la Chaumaz 7, 1281 Russin, Switzerland
It's a village restaurant Geneva_restaurant.pdf passed CERN that overlooks Geneva. They cook their meat using the grapevines in the fire, a bit different and very tasty.

Hi Phil,
I did remember...
IMG_0507s.JPG
This is the first advert you see, it's over the top of the stairs as you exit the arrival gate, then when you get further along and before you get to baggage claim and customs there are more adverts for Chinese airlines and such, the customs people don't allow phones or cameras at that point.
Overall impression is good, I guess?
For anyone visiting Geneva, the La Chaumez, restaurant Christian recommended was excellent, the food was great, I skipped the escargot, and went for the steak probably worth taking someone who speaks French tho..
Thanks Christian..
As soon as I can sort out some pictures I'll update the CERN thread.
Regards
