Pratt Bernard
Hi everyone
Was looking at purchasing a set of outside jaws for my 125mm Pratt Bernard 3 jaw chuck
My question is are the outside jaws of a 125mm chuck the same as a 5" chuck. My chuck has a circular label on it (Pratt Burnerd International)
They have individual serial numbers but was wondering if they are interchangeable.

Maybe you could contact Pratt Burnerd in the UK and ask them - 600 UK Machine Tools Spares Enquiry Page

I have a Pratt Bernard 3 jaw self centring chuck, The chuck was missing a set of jaws when I got it and I was given a set from another chuck (same model) the jaws don't align perfectly, so the material runs out if turned and then removed from chuck and put back.
This can be resolved by having the jaws reground. My work around is to try and do all machining in one process without removing it.

Thanks Guys
Im thinking I can work around a small amount of inaccuracy as opposed to not being able to mount the work at all

It was just a heads up in case you were not aware that it could happen. I work around it with mine.
Also when I looked into it, it can be cheaper to pick up an after market (asian or used) chuck and put it on your mounting plate.

As far as I know they have switched to a metric scroll. If so, the jaws from the 125mm probably won't fit your chuck. Best to contact them and confirm.

I think you will get a shock when you find out how much 600 Machinery want for a set of PB jaws.

Rotagrip are pretty good with chucks and jaws.
Rotagrip - Hard Outside Jaws To Suit Pratt Burnerd 125mm Diameter Chuck
Cough Cough. Urgh. Thats more than I paid for my Pratt Burnerd chuck on ebay.
You may be lucky lurking on ebay for a set of jaws as they do come up every now and again for around the 30 GBP mark.
