    Default Premo lathe

Hi, I believe somebody on here has one of these Australian built lathes made by Brackenbury and Austin ? Somewhat like a SB 9" lathe in size but beefier in construction. Are parts available or is it one of those "rarer than hens teeth" items ? And, are they considered to be a good lathe ? The head spindle has a very weird thread............. 1 and 3/4" X 7 tpi MIKE

Default yeah, send that Premo junk to me;)

Na, they are utter crap, send all the spare parts to me
seriously though I'm after the 14dp change gears (I probably should just commit to getting pipeclay to make them), face plate and steadies.
This is my punishment for buying cheap incomplete things!
I think the spindle nose thread is a BSF standard (still rare of course).

Now I've got the baby version, the 'New GregCo' branded model, also by Brackenbury and Austin; it is similar to the smallest Myford/Drummond.
This 4-3/16" x 17" lathe has a 1-5/16"x10tpi spindle thread, which I am also after (not having thread cutting capabilities like Franco yet).

[Anyone want to swap an 1-1/2x 6tpi backing plate??]
    enjoy,
    AndrewOC

    Default Ok

Roger that .The little ones are cute and ideal for the lounge room ( if you are a batchelor of course ) . The 1 and 3/4 BSF nuts I can find are listed at 7 tpi . Mike

Have you ever thought of making a socket for your spindle with a more common spindle thread?

I used to have one but mine was 1 1/2-8 tpi.

An OK machine but nothing to get excited about. I did a lot of work on it and sold it to a mate of mine who still has it.
