I always thought you'd put a bolt through the feet or base flange of any machine you move on skates, that's why I mentioned drilling and tapping to go yet.... I don't think I'd be game to do it without.

I have some channel and might try making some myself.
Funny, they look just like the ones I have under my boat support grid, only smaller.... I used plain bushings with grease nipples rather than ball bearings, and 1" diameter pins, in 5" parallel flange channel.
Agree about the 3 point mount thing. Recently I moved one of my 2 tonne machines, 2 skates under one end, pallet jack under the other. I use strips of ply or similar between the skates & machine base because metal on metal isn't a good idea - too little friction.

Josh, could you be more spoecific? I/ve been trying to think up a way of attaching some sort of steering arm to one or two of them, but haven't come up with something that won't get it the way. The one option I will try though is to make a threaded hole forward of the centre to allow them to swivel if pushed sideways (around a hole in the foot or base that the bolt or stud passes through).

One easy modification. You might consider putting a hollow handle at least at one end, so you can link them together, with a cross bar. It keeps them parallel, and they will skate better. It also stops them wanting to move out as both of them would need to go. Small skate like yours, at bit of 12 or 16mm bar. It could be R.H.S
When I have the bars sticking out like this, I'll often lash to the bars with a tie down ratchet, stops them slipping back.

It was probably 19mm bar there's used.

I recently got my hands on some nice 7075 aluminium scrap, and I figured I could build a nice little 3 axis gimbal out of it.
It is just a side project while I work on other things.
Anyway see attached pdf for the rough idea, it uses 4x608 and 1x6000 bearings..
